Haunted Mansion Mystery: Don't be scared!
One night in Ashgrove House — thirty-one years shut, a family that left in a hurry, puzzles somebody meant to be solved, and something on the stair. The house is invented; type fact and every explanation you can test it against is real and sourced.

🕯️ A text game you play by talking to Grok. One night, one torch, one house that will not sit still. Ashgrove House has been shut for thirty-one years; the caretaker hands you a key and a note she will not explain, and drives away before the light goes. You get a numbered menu every turn, and you can always type something of your own instead.
Open rooms nobody has opened since the family left. Solve the puzzles they left in the fabric of the building — a gallery of portraits hung out of order with one frame empty, an inventory that lists a room the floor plan does not have, a bell board that still rings for it. Meet whatever is walking the long gallery. Reach the Tower Room before dawn, or don't.
Ashgrove, the Vane family and everything that happens to you tonight are invented. What is NOT invented is everything you can test the house against, and the game hands it to you with sources the moment you reach for it:
- The 1921 ophthalmology paper in which a whole family's apparitions turned out to be a cracked furnace
- The ideomotor effect Faraday nailed down in 1853
- The 19 Hz standing wave in a Warwick lab
- Sleep paralysis, pareidolia, and two famous 'haunted' houses whose best-known legends collapse under a records search
Type "fact" any time and the game breaks character to tell you what the real record says and where to read it. Leave at dawn with every phenomenon explained, or leave with the file open — both are endings, and the game never tells you which one was right.
Every scene quietly writes a full media set — image, video, audio, music, dialogue — that you can save to momatio, where playthroughs become AI-generated reenactment films.
